Lab A Part 2
Teaching for the second time was a lot easier then the first. It may have been easier because it wasn't a surprise this time, but I felt a lot more comfortable standing in front of everyone and explaining how to catch the football. I was able to explain things more clearly and I felt everyone was learning something. After watching my lesson, I realized I need to talk a lot louder. While I was teaching, I thought I was talking loud enough, but to my surprise I wasn't at all. I couldn't believe at how quiet my voice actually was. Its almost like you have to scream to your students so that everyone can hear. Talking loud will keep students interested. After looking at my time coding form, I was happy with the amount of time I used for instructing my class in the beginning. They were in the activity after about a minute after the lesson started.
What I need to work on is not saying "uh" a lot. You can see in my transcript that I use it every now and then. By being more confident in what I am teaching will help me stop saying "uh".
I was not happy with the amount of feedback I gave. I mostly just walked around saying good job. I need to be more specific with the student and talk to them directly. As you can see in my feedback analysis form, I was only able to give specific feedback to three people. This is not enough feedback and I need to work on giving out more specific details.
These videos are really helping me improve my teaching. Already I feel as if I have improved a lot. They let me see what I am doing correctly and what I am doing wrong instead of having someone tell me. These videos are a great way to help me become the best physical educator I can be.
